State of the Epigram – Spring ’26

I am back from Salute, and full of pep and vigour, and so it is time for a new State of the Epigram!

Salute

Me (CJ) stood behind the Epigram Games stand at Salute
The Epigram stand at Salute near the N4 exit, complete with new demo board, and importantly new books and new products!

Salute was a great experience. It’s only one day compared to UKGE’s three, but it’s still a massive investment of time and energy. It is however the UK’s largest wargames show, we were told to expect 7-8000 people over the day and I have no way to corroborate this but it was wonderful to see people coming out to experience the majest that is Salute.

It was the first official outing for the new packaging design, and also the M36 Superheavy Mech:

It was also the first outing of the show exclusive killcar, which comes with bonus 3D printed turrets. The turrets will be available as an STL shortly, but the printed versions will remain an exclusive only available in person.

Into the Meatgrinder

Hypersteel Meatgrinder is now available! You can now add infantry to your games of Hypersteel Meatgrinder, including new revised rules for scouts and cavalry and a whole revised section on buildings, complete with full destruction rules.

It is complete with a new cover and new interior artwork from Juan Ochoa (who kicked it out of the park, again) as well as new chapter illustrations from yours truely and brand new miniatures photography.

It’s the same high quality hardback as the original rulebook (which is about to enter its third print run!), making it the perfect companion to the original, and allowing you to finally play the world’s greatest* combined arms sci-fi skirmish.

The Future of Hypersteel

With Hypersteel Meatgrinder done, Hypersteel Nightmare is broadly complete. There are certainly more things I could add, but none scream out to me right now as being as fundamental to the game as infantry.

Over the course of the year, I do plan to release at least a few more minaitures for use with Hypersteel Nightmare (and I’m investigating options for production that make them less reliant on me having the time to produce them).

Hypersteel Nightmare will continue to be supported, and I’m looking at options for new accessories right now to help make your gaming experience as enjoyable as possible.

The Future of Epigram?

Epigram Games isn’t going anywhere. Our next project is even more ambitious, and we’re going to need your help.

Able Artemis is a 10mm scale scifi skirmish game set in an alternate 1984 where the space race never ended and the USA and USSR are locked in a war for the moon.

It started in 2021 as a passion project, and now it’s going to be Epigram’s second game. Now, you’re reading this on a website called hypersteelnightmare.com, and the astute amongst you may have noticed that epigram.games redirects here too, but not for much longer.

At some point post-UKGE, there will be a shiny new Epigram Games website, and these posts and the store will move over there, with this website being refocused on resources for Hypersteel Nightmare.

Whilst I’m provisionally planning for an initial starter set release for Able Artmeis for Salute 2027, there’s still a lot of work to do. To that end, in the next month or so I am looking to get a playtest pack for Able Artemis into the wild: there will be a free PDF version, but also a cheap (as cheap as I can make it) printed option with a staple bound playtest rulebook and card standee miniatures.

If you made it this far, thank you. None of the last two years could have been possible without your help and support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If you want to keep most up to date, join the discord server, soon to be renamed to the Epigram Games discord server, but at time of writing still the Hypersteel Nightmare discord server.

Until next time (statistically probably October).

And if you made it this far, the discount code SPRING26 will get you ยฃ2.50 off the physical rulebooks until the end of April.
